Families on Mission June 28 - July 3, 2008
Minimum age: Completion of kindergarten Ministry Projects: Families on Mission is providing families with the exciting opportunity to serve the Lord in Lynch, Ky. Lynch is located in far eastern Kentucky, a poverty-stricken area of Appalachia where many families need encouragement, assistance, and hope through the love of Jesus Christ. Ministry projects will be coordinated through the North American Mission Board and Meridzo Ministry and its director. Participants will assist Meridzo Ministry’s ongoing mission programs that reach out to and serve the lost and hurting people of the area. Participants will serve through sports camps, survey work, light construction/painting, acts of kindness, and other outreach programs such as Vacation Bible School and Backyard Bible Club. Participants will also help Meridzo Ministry in their clothing ministry and food pantry by organizing donated clothing for distribution and sorting and distributing food to the people in the community. This community needs to experience the love and kindness of the Lord through the various mission opportunities. Housing: Families will stay at Solomon’s Porch, a Meridzo facility used to house volunteers who come to serve throughout the year. Solomon’s Porch is an old hospital that has been remodeled to accommodate volunteers working with Meridzo. Meals and Meetings: Meals and meetings will be at Solomon’s Porch. The evening worship will be at a local church nearby.
